Assembling the Robot Car Chassis

In this project, you'll assemble the robot car chassis, wheels, and the two DC motors.

	Parts needed: Robot car chassis kit Two DC motors with wheels 4 AA batteries
	Refer to the steps and pictures below for a summary on how to assemble the robot car chassis or watch a complete video on the assembly. Peel off all of the paper backings covering the plexiglass. Mount the back wheel with the four spacers and the short screws. Use a utility knife to scratch off the oxidation from the four copper connectors on the two motors. Do it until the copper is shiny. But be very gentle with the scrapping, otherwise you might break off the copper connectors. The two motors should be mounted with the copper wire connectors facing the outside of the chassis body. Use the long screws. Important: DO NOT tighten the screws that attach the two motors to the chassis too much, otherwise, the motor is squeezed too tight and will not turn. Mount the battery holder on the bottom between the two motors and the back wheel. Push the screws up from the battery holder. You need to tighten the screws really tight so that they do not stick out and prevent the battery from staying in place. Snap in the on/off switch from the top. The ON (1) side of the switch is towards the battery holder. Solder the four wires to the two motors. Feed the wires through to the top side. The red wire from the battery holder should connect through the on/off switch. So cut the red wire and solder the two pieces to the two terminals on the on/off switch. You want to cut the wire so that the end piece is as long as possible. Feed both the red and black wires to the top side. Solder a header piece (found inside the Arduino bag) to the three pairs of wires. Make sure that each pair is spaced 4 pins apart.
